Over Thyroid Change:
Vision, Mission, Goals

ThyroidChange is a registered nonprofit patient organization, 501(c)(3), dedicated to improving the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disease through a physician-patient cooperative approach. Our supporters agree that current guidelines leave too many patients suffering. ThyroidChange exists through the contributions and passion of the worldwide thyroid community.

OUR VISION
An expansive global thyroid community of medical professionals and patients working together for innovative diagnostics and individualized treatment for thyroid hormone imbalance.

OUR MISSION
ThyroidChange works to educate patients and medical professionals regarding innovative diagnostics and individualized treatment options available for thyroid hormone assessment and replacement. Our worldwide network cooperates to inform the undiagnosed about their risk and their need for proper assessment; and to familiarize the under-treated about innovative tests and alternative treatment options. ThyroidChange aims to provide a platform for physician-patient collaboration in the areas of further research and change in current treatment guidelines.

OUR GOALS
To create a standard of treatment for the diagnosis and management of thyroid hormone imbalance which includes:•1.Drawing of a full thyroid panel to include Free T3, Reverse T3, Free T4, TSH, and thyroid antibodies to all patients who exhibit symptoms related to thyroid disease, including changes in mood.
2.Greater emphasis on the Free T4, Free T3 lab value and patient symptom report; lesser emphasis on the TSH lab value.
3.Thyroid hormone replacement options including T3-containing therapies such as liothyronine, liothyronine/levothyroxine combinations, and natural thyroid extract medication based on patients' needs.

To advocate for greater recognition and increased value for:
•1.The underlying trigger which drives thyroid hormone imbalance.

2.Adrenal dysfunction and the adverse effect it has on the conversion of T4 to T3. Testing cortisol levels throughout the day should be incorporated with thyroid testing procedures.
3.Vitamin and mineral deficiencies that are often associated with thyroid disease including Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, iron, and ferritin. It is common to have any one of these deficiencies in thyroid patients, and a deficiency may impact the utilization of thyroid hormone.
4.The need for further research into thyroid hormone therapy specifically, comparative studies in the effectiveness of T4-only treatment versus therapies which employ T3.
5.Cooperation among members of the thyroid community with both medical professionals and patients alike to support our efforts.

To provide a platform for the collaboration of medical professionals and patients to improve diagnostic measures and create innovative replacement therapies.

To raise worldwide awareness of thyroid hormone imbalance in an effort to help support further academic research in the study of thyroid dysfunction and its treatment.
